The thyroid gland is a small butterfly shaped gland at the base of your neck. We all need a thyroid gland to make the hormones needed to survive. Thyroid hormones control energy, metabolism, body temperature regulation, heart rate, and brain function among other things. When the thyroid gland isn’t working properly or is under attack from the immune system it can really throw the body off balance.

1 in 4 Australians suffer with hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) and over 60,000 cases are diagnosed each year.
